It’s taken fifteen years of risk-taking, innovation, dizzying wins and dismal losses to make Christine Khor the successful business owner she is today. After a long and successful career working in product and marketing management for leading companies such as Kraft Foods and Simplot, she started her own specialist recruitment consultancy in 2000 with the very simple premise; that sales, marketing and communications people should recruit for sales, marketing and communication jobs. Her business has undergone three major transformations to get to where it is today. The first was the birth of Market Partners, which survived a brief encounter with an embezzler, cornered the Melbourne market for sales and marketing professionals, grew in size and reputation and then considered expanding nationally. The expansion resulted in a merger with a Sydney based business and thus Carrera Partners was born. With offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, the business was now nationally recognised, however after nearly five years, the relationships of the four directors became strained with differing visions for the future of the business. It provoked Christine to run away to Africa in order to gain perspective and bring meaning back into her life. She volunteered for The Hunger Project Australia – a not for profit organisation that works to eradicate world hunger, and came back from Uganda a changed woman. Her adventure lent her the strength to make the bold decision to demerge from Carrera Partners in 2012 – it was to be her biggest challenge yet, but resulted in the best payoff; the birth of Chorus Executive. A business that is wholeheartedly built on her values and vision; Chorus Executive is a holistic talent management company, providing recruitment, talent development and coaching services to the sales, marketing and communications space. Her Melbourne staff remained with her and supported her through the transition. Self-proclaimed change-junky, Christine lives for innovation and growth. She is a passionate speaker on career building, leadership, women in the workplace, work/life balance, empowerment, small business start-ups and fulfilling your dreams. At Chorus Executive, Christine specialises in coaching, mentoring, executive recruitment and organisation development. She is also on the Victorian Development Board of The Hunger Project Australia.
