National Director of the Australian Writers’ Centre Valerie founded the Australian Writers’ Centre as just a one-person operation (can you guess who that person was?). Today it’s a thriving community, with almost 50 of Australia’s top writing trainers, journalists and authors all teaching classroom and online courses to students all around the world. There are campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth – as well as a huge online community of students from all over the world. With more than 40 short courses including creative writing, travel writing, grammar and punctuation, business writing, web content and magazine writing, the centre has helped thousands of students get published, score book deals and change careers. In 2010, it was a winner at the NSW Telstra Business Awards and it has also been named by Dell as one of the ‘10 most innovative small businesses in Australia’. She has recently welcomed the Centre’s 20,000th student! Author of Power Stories – 8 stories you MUST tell to build an epic business. After debuting as the no.2 business book in Australia (only just behind Richard Branson), Valerie Khoo’s Power Stories continues to explore the positive role of storytelling in today’s business environment. In Power Stories, she draws on this as she shares real life entrepreneur stories that will inspire readers to recharge their own brand. The book’s eight sections explore ways to build a positive brand profile by using the lost art of storytelling to make authentic connections in all areas of business. Power Stories is an essential read for entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, game-changers and anyone wanting to make their business truly epic. Keynote speaker Valerie is a keynote speaker and MC who focuses on entrepreneurial topics, particularly on profile building and storytelling in business.
